About Us

Our family run nursing home specialising in care for the elderly delivers bespoke high quality care for residents with a broad range of nursing and care needs, including brief respite holidays, long term care, and complex palliative nursing. See our ‘Care’ page for more details on the type of care we can provide.

Best Standards of Care

Our Mission has always been to provide the best standards of care, and to support individuals and their families at what is for many a vulnerable time. Our vision for Alverstoke House is that it is first and foremost our residents’ home; a place where they feel loved, safe, respected and treated with dignity.

Our values are centred around residents having a sense of purpose and of belonging, to live well, and to find enjoyment. This is supported by ensuring residents have choice, every day, on how they want to spend their time and with whom.

Regular Events

To ensure our residents feel part of our broader community we hold regular events at the home, singing visits from local school children, singing from local choirs, visits from our staff children and pets, including key celebrations in the calendar, including valentines day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas. For residents who are mobile trips out to the local beauty spot of Stokes Bay, and into the village are all popular excursions.

As well as working hard to ensure the building itself is well maintained and provides a homely environment we work extremely hard to ensure the team are strong through careful recruitment, to ongoing support, training, and ensuring they feel valued and part of our Alverstoke House family.

We have a commitment to a good staff ratio, to ensure staff have time to deliver quality care they can feel proud of, and to build valued relationships.

Excellent Communal Spaces

We listen to our community - residents, families and staff - seek their feedback, and implement their ideas for continuous improvement. Ongoing training and development for staff is encouraged and supported for everyone, to ensure the highest standards of care for all our residents and their needs.

Our home has 26 well-proportioned bedrooms most of which provide en-suite facilities. We offer excellent communal spaces for residents to enjoy, including two sitting rooms, a dining room and two conservatories. These rooms provide a wonderful homely environment and are well used during the daily activities run by our activities team Lucie, Margaret and Linda (see our ‘Care’ page to find out more).

 Peaceful Location

The home is situated on a quiet private residential cul de sac providing a community feel, with our neighbours joining in social events over many years. The communal spaces and most bedrooms overlook entrance gardens, complete with a Koi Carp Pond and landscaped gardens to the rear.
